YOGA NIDRA

YOGA, means to unite with the divinity, NIDRA, to sleep.
This practice serves to rest in a more relaxed and deep way, to obtain a greater body awareness and finally to remain conscious during sleep of that deeper inner self, of the divinity.
You can do it before going to sleep or during the day when you want to relax and rest. The duration of the practice varies, you can make it shorter or longer, do the exercises more times, or stop more in those exercises that are more pleasurable to you. It is fine if you fall asleep during the practice, although it is advisable to wrap up warm beforehand. 20 minutes is a guideline time.
All exercises should be done slowly and consciously. It is especially important to be aware of your body and the various exercises you perform; devote all your attention in a calm, comfortable and stress-free way. It is an exercise of relaxation, therefore you have to make it pleasant and enjoyable.
To do it you lie on your back on the bed, or on the floor on a blanket or similar so as not to get cold. You will use a pillow if you find it comfortable. It is also convenient to have a blanket or something to cover yourself with because you may feel cold at the end of the exercise. With your
arms along the body, palms up and legs ajar. As you lie down you relax, feel the weight, become aware of your body and become aware of your breathing. Time stops and you start slowly, and in a relaxed way to do the exercises.
